El otro día recibí la última factura del gas, y tras comprobar su elevado importe, decidí revisar las facturas del último año. Finalmente todo estaba correcto, la única singularidad es que habían pasado el cobro de la revisión obligatoria del RITE, que es cada 5 años en viviendas, siempre que la potencia instalada sea inferior a 24,4kW (usándolo exclusivamente para ACS).
Sin embargo, revisando los conceptos facturados, me llamó poderosamente la atención un dato: el bajísimo impacto sobre el total del coste del gas consumido, frente a otros conceptos facturados. Esto me llevó a pensar en calcular cuánto estaba gastando al año en mi contrato de gas ciudad, y comparativamente, que coste económico tendría si me diera de baja y utilizara la clásica bombona de butano.

Los números del gas ciudad
Pues bien, haciendo unos números, descubrí que durante el último año mi contrato de gas ciudad había implicado un coste anual de 210€, que vendrían a ser unos 155€ en un año sin revisión obligatoria, luego:
Coste anual facturación gas ciudad (año sin revisión obligatoria): 155€
Pero, ¿cuanta energía había consumido? Sumando el concepto de consumo en la factura, me salen 285kWh/año, que equivalen a 23,75kWh al mes.
Para que veais la cantidad de cosas que se pagan en la factura del gas ciudad, multiplicamos el consumo anual por el coste del kWh de gas, que es aproximadamente 0,06 €/kWh. Así obtenemos que el coste del gas consumido durante el último año en mi casa es de:
Coste anual del gas ciudad consumido: 285 kWh x 0,06€ = 17,1€
Como fácilmente podeis comprobar, el coste del gas consumido apenas supera el 10% del total del coste facturado (exactamente un 11.03%). El resto de conceptos que incrementan la factura en mi caso son:
- Impuesto especial sobre hidrocarburos (0,00234 €/kWh). Pues eso, otro impuesto.
- Termino fijo (8,62€): esto es como el termino de potencia de la factura de electricidad, lo pagas consumas o no.
- Canon de finca (7,97€): esto es un cargo que no todos los clientes pueden tener. Según tengo entendido es el coste de la acometida del edificio repartida entre los vecinos y en «comodos» plazos durante no se sabe cuantos años, según contrato provado entre el promotor de la vivienda y la compañía. Esto tengo que investigarlo porque como nadie lo revisa, igual siguen cobrándolo cuando ya se ha pagado el montante, fiate de la compañía energética.
- Alquiler de contador: en los 7 años que vivo en mi casa, ya habré pagado unos 211€. El contador no creo que sea mucho más caro.
- IVA (21%): viva el vino! Ya sabeis, el actual Gobierno tardó poco en elevarlo del 18% al 21%, siguiendo las órdenes de la Troika.
En mi caso, tanto el canon de finca como el termino fijo es lo que más incrementa la factura.
¿Se ahorra con la bombona de butano?
Ahora nos planteamos el caso de cuánto me costaría al año mi consumo si pasara a ser usuario de la clásica bombona de butano.
Veamos:
- Una bombona de butano estandar contiene 12,5kg de gas
- Según datos del IDAE, el butano comercial tiene un poder calorífico inferior (PCI) de 10.938 kCal/kg, que equivale a 12,72kWh/kg
- Por tanto, la energía térmica que proporciona el gas contenido en una bombona de butano estandar es de: 12,5kg x 12,72kW = 159kWh
- El coste actual de la bombona es de 17,5€
Pues bien, sabiendo todo esto, y sabiendo que mi consumo anual es de 285kWh, vemos que esto equivale al contenido de:
285kWh / 159 kWh = 1,79 bombonas
que redondeando podemos decir que serían dos bombonas al año.
Por tanto, si utilizara bombonas en lugar de gas ciudad, mi coste anual de gas sería de:
Coste anual consumiendo bombonas de butano: 2 x 17,5€ = 35€/año
Conclusiones
Ya veis, si me doy de baja del gas ciudad y empiezo a usar la clásica bombona de butano, el coste anual del gas que consumimos en mi casa sería de tan sólo 35€ frente a los 155€ del gas ciudad, es decir, 4,43 veces menos, y un ahorro de 120€ al año.
¿Vale la pena? Pues eso ya cada uno que lo valore. Para mi, ir a la gasolinera y comprar 2 botellas de butano al año no me parece una incomodidad suficiente como para regalar 120€ a Gas Natural-Fenosa, así que me lo voy a plantear seriamente. Ya os contaré cómo acaba el asunto.
Evidentemente esto es un caso particular, en el que el consumo de gas es tan bajo que el coste fijo supera en mucho el valor del gas consumido.
En viviendas donde además de para el ACS se usa el gas para cocinar y para calefacción, esta opción no es muy viable, ya que las calderas de gas deben funcionar con gas ciudad.
¿Pero qué pasa en las casas donde se usa sólamente para ACS y cocinar? A partir de qué consumo me sale rentable usar butano? Vamos a verlo.
En la siguiente gráfica podemos ver una comparativa de coste entre gas butano y gas ciudad, en función del consumo:
Como se puede observar, a partir de un consumo de 7400kWh es más rentable económicamente usar Gas Ciudad.
Sin embargo, ese consumo equivale a 46 bombonas de butano. Si tenemos en cuenta el factor comodidad, evidentemente acarrear 46 bombonas de butano al año (casi 4 al mes, una a la semana) no es algo muy agradable. Pero sí podemos decir que hasta llegar a ese consumo (7400kWh), el butano es más barato que un contrato de gas ciudad.
Eso es todo amigos. Espero que este artículo os ayude a seguir conociendo mejor vuestros consumos y os haya hecho pensar sobre vuestras facturas de gas. El blog de Efimarket siempre a la carga! Como mínimo, ¿sabéis cuanto estáis pagando?

Lo importante no es que sean 2 (una estimación numérica que quizas deje de lado algun factor que haga aumentar ese numero), que podrían ser 4 o 5 al trasladarlo a la práctica, sino que en caso de usarlo solo para ACS, es mucho mas barato usar butano (incluso siendo 4 o 5 en lugar de 2).

Hola Germán, gracias por tu comentario. La alternativa eléctrica no la recomiendo, no solo por todo lo que dices (la electricidad es cara y no para de subir), sino también por principios: calentar con electricidad es una de las formas más ineficientes energéticamente de calentar.
En tu caso, teniendo salida de humos y caldera, te recomendaría pasarte a gas butano. Si te ocurre como a mi, que solo lo gastas para ACS, te saldran los numeros.

Pero si no lo tienes, mira lo que le comentaba a Germán: producir calor con electricidad es de lo mas ineficiente. Para calentar siempre mejor usar combustión (tambien tiene sus problemas, como necesidad de salida de humos, etc.). Pero en mi caso. lo que no voy a hacer es poner un termo eléctrico… Vaya ejemplo estaría dando, cuando somos abanderados del ahorro energético!! 🙂

Dime una cosa: ¿quien da esa «recomendacion» de pasar a gas ciudad si gastas 2 bombonas mensuales? ¿Que argumento, a parte de la mayor o menor comodidad, puede justificarlo? Si solo miras lo económico, pierdes dinero. Y eso es lo que significa la gráfica de lo que tu llamas aialada. Está claro que a nadie le resulta comodo acarrear y cambiar 47 bombonas, pero económicamente sería el equivalente, como ves.

Yo solo utilizo el butano para la ducha, por lo que mi consumo mensual es reducido. La duda se me planteaba porque un comercial de Fenosa ha llamado varias veces ofertando el alta gratis y que solo se pagan 2 € mensuales mas el consumo e IVA. Los 2 € son en concepto de alquiler de contador pero no menciona nada sobre el impuesto especial de hidrocarburos, importe fijo o canon de finca, conceptos que yo mismo desconocía y por los que preguntaré.

Gracias Rafael. Si, pregunta mejor esas condiciones, ya que si es poco el coste fijo que pagas (seguramente en tu finca no hay canon) igual ya solo por la comodidad te resulta interesante.
